I have been obsessed with finding the "perfect" skin care routine since I was in PA school at Baylor College of Medicine. Given how long ago that was (no comments needed!), I have had plenty of time to continue to try endless upon endless different lotions and potions. This quest has led me to find many wonderful skincare products - and even more less-than-wonderful options. In an effort to assist my patients and decrease their spending and research time (come on - you know you have a drawer full of useless products) I have opted to offer only my favorite, scientifically-proven, clinically-efficacious skincare products at our medical spas in Evergreen and Conifer, Colorado.

Exosomes 101
Found in our body, exosomes are extracellular vesicles that carry cell-specific cargos of growth factors, stem cells, proteins, lipids, and genetic materials. They are taken up by distant cells which can affect cell function and behavior. Think little bubbles of messages that allow cells to talk to and help each other. Scientists have found that when a healthy cell sends an exosome to an unhealthy cell, the damaged cell will begin to repair itself. Exosomes are thought to give insight and assistance in diagnosing diseases and response to treatment.
What In The Name of Science?
Whether or not you realize it, exosomes are already working for you in your body!
Most people have at least heard about growth factors and stem cells. Stem cell therapy has been used in medicine since 1958. First discovered in 1983, exosomes are being studied to better understand how they can be used to treat disease states. Currently, exosome therapy is used in regenerative medicine similarly to stem cell therapy, but no donor cell is needed. Exosomes contain at least three times the amount of growth factors when compared to adult stem cells. More growth factors = improved ability to restore and revitalize target cells.
Simply You Med Spa offers stem cell therapy in the form of platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) and platelet rich plasma (PRP). PRF is derived from drawing blood from a patient, spinning it down, and extracting the “good stuff.” The patient’s own PRF is then used with micro needling to help with hair restoration or to improve signs of aging. It can also be injected and used with or without filler to help with re-volumization.
